Welcome to You Can Make a Home! I’m Aubrey, and I live in the wonderful Midwest where I am making a cozy home to welcome friends and family.
I grew up very focused on school and intellectual achievement, but by the time I finished college I realized I had very little in the way of life skills outside of the classroom. Many of my attempts to cook a meal wound up in the trash, and the few tools that had been gifted to me sat in a box in the closet.
I spent my 20s learning to cook and budget. Over time more meals made it to the table instead of the trash. I learned how to set up a retirement account and spend money on quality things.
In my early 30s I bought my first home and jumped into DIY projects, having no idea what I was doing but supported by family members who were capable teachers (and by YouTube). Now I have a garage full of power tools and sawdust.
